Steampunk Painting: Lady with Parasol

This painting has a very strong steampunk feel to it. Love the angelic lady in white. The world desperately needs flying trains.

Strasburg Clock

The Strasburg Clock, Strasburg France, in Strasburg's Notre Dame Cathedral. The clock features moving elements enacting the procession of the apostles, the four stages of life, an orrery model of the solar system, the heathen deities that appear according to the days of the week and the beautiful astronomical dial.

Steampunk Marilyn Monroe

I stumbled across this old picture of Marilyn Monroe the other day. I think it has a very steampunk feel to it. Fabulous hat! Wouldn't mind owning a bike like that either.

The Blue Lady with the Parasol

It is a bit steampunk and petticoat at the same time. I love the pearls, the hat and the parasol. The dark lipstick is just perfect and the dress has great detailing.

Angelic Steampunk

Steampunk is often very dark and gothic but I love colour so not a big fan of that. I much prefer something like this. Very steampunk angel princess.

Pink steampunk / Victorian shoes

I need these shoes yesterday. But I would get rid of the strap that goes across the laces.

Airships

This is the first time I'm actually posting pictures of the airships that inspired the title of my blog. They're all fabulous, but the one that looks like a bee most of all.

 

Steampunk embroidered coat

Now this is a steampunk coat I would gladly wear! Especially the one in white. Black is too depressing a colour for me. The embroidery is exquisite!

It is steampunk meets flamenco and baroque. Slightly eccentric with all those bows but daring and original.

Steampunk Corset

I've never worn a steampunk corset but they always seem a bit tight and uncomfortable to me haha.

Must be my 21st century self talking. They do have a habit of looking fabulous and sexy though so perhaps it's worth a try. This particular one is rather feminine, though I could do without the bow. Love the necklace combo as well.

Steampunk Hollywood: Van Helsing

Let's have some steampunkery to brighten up this dull Wednesday. Only two days till the weekend!

Kate Beckinsale's costumes were easily the best thing about Van Helsing. 

Steampunk Couture

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a tomboy. This might explain why I love steampunk. It is feminine in a quite understated way (though some prefer the bustle and cleavage variety) and makes you look unique and different.

 I really adore this red tailcoat over at Pirates Cave. I'm a big fan of red and this particular cut has a very military look that appeals to me. It also has great detailing in the buttons and gold trim.

McQueen. Fierce and expensive I'm sad to say. This is something I would wear every day. I am more airship than petticoat. :)
